Here's my favourites list:

Image viewer: gwenview
(Nice UI, and that's all I need for viewing pictures. :-) Seems very much like
ACDSee)

Movie player: MPlayer
> (Opens everything. Very good speed and usability)
Roger that! And if that wasn't enough, I recently installed KMPlayer as a GUI
for MPlayer

CD/DVD burning: k3b (i think this is favourite of majority)

Text editor: Kate (KDE 3.3) / Anjuta (for programming)

Software development: Anjuta (an IDE), umbrello (nice UML tool)

Music player: Amarok
Again, it's the UI that sets it apart. I never liked winamp's UI, and XMMS
clones that! :-(

PIM: Kopete/GAIM

Game: Quake III Arena Demo, tuxracer, supertux, clanbomber, bombermaze, super
methane brothers, maelstrom, chromium bsu, same GNOME, and ofcourse
KMines! :-) Want to know more! ;-)
(torcs and gl-117 only sometimes. Hopefully they'll get more mature with time)

"Desktop environment": KDE (and sometimes 'openbox')

Distro: SuSE 9.2
> (Takes care of the little details in an OS... KDE seems pretty fast...

Let me add a word of praise for YaST! :-)

Web Browser: Firefox 1.0/Opera
