Thanks for the suggestions.  As I said in my mail, my Win installation 
has been corrupted (Though the partition and contents exist, accessible 
under Linux) and I would be satisfied at the moment to connect Lin-Lin.  
Looking for Lin-Neighbourhood, as suggested by Aditya Godbole, I 
stumbled on more appropriate help/How to page and realised that I have 
to mount partitions from the connected machine for NFS to work.  Which 
I did and could access files on one machine from another.  

The limitation that I am having now is I can only mount folders from  
one user directory (under home) and not any others - such as Windows 
(C:) or the DVD ROM, which I would like to share.  How can I do that?
