Assuming that you use a dialer in Windows, the procedure in Linux is similar. Install the rp-pppoe package ( http://www.roaringpenguin.com/penguin/open_source_rp-pppoe.php ). It should be present in one of the 4 CD's. After installation, run adsl-setup as root. To start the connection, say adsl-start. To stop it, say adsl-stop.
If you have the static IP connection, you have to set up the network in Linux with the IP provided to you.
