Hi, Iam very new to linux and want to know about this world. Iam an engineering graduate from VIT. Fascinated by linux world i want to make career in this. I know a bit of unix and shell scripting. Can people tell me how to get started. I beleive the best way is to install linux at home and do R&D. What version should i begin with. Where do i get it from.

If you are really new to Linux and want to learn to program, I would suggest that you should first get the hang of all Unix fundamentals, including C programming on Unix (others might disagree to the choice of the language). Install Cygwin or something and when you have got an idea of the Unix architecture, move full time to Linux or BSD.
I would suggest Mandrake to begin with.
