If the issues are about Linux (or any open source OS), then > it's ok. But discussing Sybase issues is not. Well i think i set the wrong tone in my last mail, I am not saying we should discuss the above applications. Heck i am myself very much against using such. But they are integrated part of the linux desktop today. And sybase is also one of the apps. This certainly isn't the place to discuss if sybase is better than mySQL and its benchmarks on windows. but sybase being better than mySQL because it opens up spliced pipes in 2.6 certainly should be debatable in this list. (note the situation is hypothetical) or its configuration problems.
And again yes this list is about FOSS. I don't want to go to technical nomenclature stuff. But discussing about linux should be ok in this list, and implicitly discussing sybase on linux should be too. FOSS is inclusive of linux not mutually exclusive and i think including linux includes all the apps that run on it (although limited to running them on linux.) And you are right we have had this debate for too long , till now though i thought we have reached a consensous about that... :) > Regards, > Aditya. -- BAIN http://abhijit.adotout.net -- ______________________________________________________________________ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List: ([email protected]) List Information: http://plug.org.in/mailing-list/listinfo/plug-mail Send 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for mailing instructions.
