one good antivirus product ( also it has command
line interface & retro linux feel it gives ; is the
best ) is f-prot another one is bitdefender but f-prot
is good
about automount well it is not "property" of gnome and
you may be very wrong saying things get mounted in
gnome and not in kde for this to work edit the
etc/fstab file and add entries for each of your
partitions
like following to mount d drive
/dev/hda5 /mnt/ddrive vfat defaults 0 0
where hda5 is your d drive ( it may be hdb5 or hdc
etc )
and ddrive is where you want to mount it
try it easy
