Hi All,
This is Trilok Soni. I have received the following
customs CALL memo for the ubuntu cds, which I had
requested from its ship it website.

"The parcel mentioned above and addressed to you
arrived for the release of which, you are required to
furnish the following documents / information within
10 / 15 days, failing which, action will be initiated
as per the provisions of the customs act, 1962,
international postal regulations such as (a)
Assessment based on the available data, (b)
Confiscation of the goods to the government of india,
(c) Return the goods to the sender, as deemed fit,
without any further intimation:
1. Importer Code Number
2. Invoice, Purchase Order, Order Confirmation,
3. Technical write-up.
The redemption fine and personal penalty wherever
imposed, will be addition to the import duty leviable
and should be seperately remitted in the state bank of
india, bangalore branch, st.marks road, bangalore."
In cases where clearance of any goods requires a valid
import License and if the same is not produced within
the period specified above, then the goods shall be
deemed to have been imported contrary to the
prohibition imposed by Clause-# of the Import-Export
Control Act, 1947, which will render the goods liable
for confiscation under the Section III (d) of the
Customs Act, 1962 and the goods and the Importer shall
be liable for fine and penalty respectively under
Section 112 of the Customs Act, 1962.
Before adjudictaion of the case, you make any
representation in this connection, in writing, within
15 days from teh date of receipt of this Notice. Such
representation should be made to the Assistant
Commissioner of the Customs, Postal Appraising
Department, Museum Road, Bangalore - 560 025.
You should also indicate in the written representation
whether you desire to be heard in person before the
case is adjudicated. If no such request for a personal
hearing is made, it shall be deemed that you do not
desire a hearing.
If you fail to submit the written explanation within
10/15 days of receipt of this notice or do not appear
before the Assistant Commisioner of Customs, PAD when
the case is posted for hearing, the case will
be adjudicated on the basis of the available data
evidence on record without any reference to you. Your
representation may be at your request, be oral.

Is anybody in the Bangalore received this kind of CALL
memo for ubuntu CDs?. I had googled and found that
Sudarajan from Mysore, got the same call memo. If he
is on the list..please let me know, what to do about
this call memo now...!!!
