hi mihir

well that is not true internal modem and linux are
not enemies you just have to find drivers for your
modem
i was using the internal modem from dlink for quite a
while before getting the broadband connetion but mine
is a conexant chipset ( modem company=dlink but chip
set = conexant) and for the conexant modems you do get
drivers
at http://linuxant.com choose carefully your kernel
version and then just run the rpm it's that easy but
you say you have Dlink DFM 560IS+++ i don't know what
does dfm means or whether underneath you have the same
conexant chipset if you don't then google for drivers
but i don't see you getting any for d-link as such but
one thing you can do you can exchane your modem with
your friend who is not interested in linux and/or
wants internet only in windows ( p.s. i'm not
suggesting you can exchange it with me i love my modem
) or even better go to your vendor and get it
exchanged but in that case get a conexant v92 modem
and i gurantee you that we will configure it in linux
( any flavour ) i have done it and i would recomend it
coz in linux net is little more swift ( that's not
substitute for fast but ya experience is better than
windows i'm not saying this coz i'm a diehard fan of
linux but you gotta try it to believe it)

so get conexant if you can and then the drivers and
that's all any problem feel free to contact

this is getting too large and i might have told
something you already know also to test whether you
have conexant modem or not ; go to control center and
under pci see what linux has to say about the modem
