I'm using SuSE 9.2 with kernel 2.6.8-24-default.
I looked into the file /usr/src/linux-2.6.8-24/include/linux/time.h and found
the following comment:

We can see the problem is mentioned explicitly in the "WARNING" section.
So probably people are already working towards finding a solution. And already
many on the list have already elaborated on the possible solution.
I guess this should put to rest people's worries!!
