I have idea in mind to develop a software in Linux which is similar to Gmail Harddrive or GmailFS. GmailFS is a software which creates a virtual harddrive on your harddisk. You can save all your files to this folder(Virual hdd). The files saved in this folder are stored in the Gmail. I don' mean only Gmail is used for storage, it can be rediffmail, or other mail service which can have more than 1GB of storage capacity. Tell me what linux related languages and work will be requred for this. Also tell me what is the difficulty level(in terms of time and perfection) of this project?
Good idea !! But you might want to check out the existing software already available for this purpose. I just saw a new one on freshmeat.net today - pgd.sf.net.
Programming such an application should'nt be too difficult with the libraries already available, but it will be a pain in the a** to maintain, cause you would have to change your software almost everytime google decides to change/add/remove even a semi colon from their GET/POST methods !! If you have an idea about web based apps you would understand what I'm saying. It wouldn't be too nice if your app stops working on the day of the final demo to your professor :)
