Hi
And what about the platform independent flashy
graphics we call FLASH ?
Flash is nowhere near an independant format. The proprietary
implementation from Macromedia/Adobe doesnt run on x86_64 Linux for
example. Parts of the specifications is open. An independant
reimplementation of it like swfdec is on progress
(http://www.schleef.org/swfdec/) which only does the rendering portion.
For Flash authoring there isnt any mature tools available. SVG isnt a
flash equivalent but it does serve for some of the tasks. Inkscape does
the authoring in a very nice way. See http://www.openclipart.org/ for
samples. Firefox 1.1 branch natively supports it.
