Any NIC should work. NIC chipsets are usually well supported in Linux.
I bought a Realtek NIC 2 years back. That time it cost me INR 400. Now it
should be less. I usually buy hardware from Baba Infotech, Camp. They have a
shop in City too (Tilak road) and so far I've always found their prices to be
cheaper than any others.

Hope this helps,
Regards,
Kapil
