No.
1. Though this is Linux group, we also talk about
other FOSS.
I dont think that anyone would object to me/anyone
asking a question of installation problem of, say...
MySQL on FreeBSD.
Similarly we should know the various FOSS
alternatives available on other OSs too.
2. If I want to move from some OS (Windows/mac
anything) to linux, as an end user I 1st will always
try to know which applications are present in both the
systems/OSs. Then convert my data from say MS office
to OOO format. And after being comfortable with OOO on
windows/other OS, transfer the data to linux.
Also, even if I do not plan to start using linux
and am currently using windows, I definitly would be
interested in applications which will make my data
transfer across OSs very easy.
