Hi,

Since other people have finally thought this thread warrants a reply, I'll also chip in.

There is LOTS of demand for Linux Web developers, you may be just looking at the wrong places. Check the job listing at JobsAhead/Monster ..etc.

I mean open any IT appointments and U get an onslaught
of either ASP.Net or JAVA.
If you look closely, most of the companies advertising in the dailies are service oriented companies. Although this sector appears to make more money than product based firms, it also has high employee churn. Now, ASP.Net or JAVA is a preferred platform in these companies, largely due to skill set availability. I know this for a fact, because, at the company I work for, all our linux products use python. Getting good python people on linux gets so difficult, that the management has more than a couple of time seriously considered shifting to a different platform. (Thankfully though, that sort of thing has not yet happened !)

Should I consider all JAVA
development as Linux requirments ? any JAVA people
here ?
Nope.

Isnt PHP the best platform for AJAX development ? Or
will it take a while for AJAX to sweep out JAVA and
ASP.net ?
Read up on the technologies you mentioned. At a certain level one may compare PHP and Java (tho' this sort of comparison is at a basic level, apples and oranges). However, AJAX is unrelated to either. (btw, where did you get the "PHP is the best platform form AJAX" funda ??)

Dont they use Apache ?
every one uses Apache ;-) !! ...or at least everyone who matters does. Last I heard was Apache constituted about 60+% of the webserver market.

LAMP is a preferred platform of most Web development.

HTH
Regards
Steve
