+++ Dr Ranjit C Bhonsle [PLUG] [25-11-05 08:29 +0530]: | Hello all, | Which is a good quality NIC for connection to Dataone. | My mobo has usb headers only...them too 1.1. | So either get a 2.0 usb pci card or NIC. | Linux might not understand usb card. | So the query...price no bar. | I am on p-3 866.256mb on i810e. | Ranjit.
As we don't utilize 100% bandwidth of the NIC (10/100 Mbps), any cheap realtek chipset NIC should be fine. (256 Kbps = 2.5% of 10 Mbps) Maximum bandwidth available of home users by Dataone is 1 Mbps wich is mere 10% of the available capacity when NIC is configured at 10 Mbps. -- -- ______________________________________________________________________ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List: ([email protected]) List Information: http://plug.org.in/mailing-list/listinfo/plug-mail Send 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for mailing instructions.
