Thanks for the suggestions.  I added the line to /etc/modprobe.d/sound but
no luck.  I tried 3 different model names but all with the same negative
result.  When I try to start alsamixergui I get an error and it fails.  Any
suggestions would be greatly welcome.  Gustav
