Most likely its a msdos formatted usb device having just one
partition, assigned sda1. And I think you can have multiple
partitions on a USB storage device, sda# etc, haven't tried
it (needed to do it) myself.

BTW, wondering why is Rohan using sda1 when dd requires only
device name in the output without any mount.
