I am looking for layman friendly software. I am looking for software. btw, Picasa is not FOSS. Looks like F-Spot does have a lot of features, and the tagging can prove to be useful. Have to yet look into Digikam. Lets see I will have a deeper look into them over the weekend. Thanks for all the responses.
