IIRC, Acer also sells notebooks with Linux pre-installed.  

The key thing to ask: has the vendor done any integration of it's 
notebook hardware with the Linux OS?

Like they do for Windows i.e. recovery CD/DVD with device drivers for 
the hardware in the notebook.

Is the user left to figure out how to make the WiFi work under Linux 
etc.?
