RPM (and other package managers) typically do not know about things you installed from the source code. If you merely want to install openvpn on the system, use a repository that has the necessary packages and saves your time http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/repoview/openvpn.html Look at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL for more details.
