I wouldn't say that. A properly-tuned Oracle configuration is as fast or
faster than MySQL on single-table queries. At least, in my experience. Of
course, getting Oracle "properly tuned" basically means throwing lots of
hardware at it. Our production system here in MosCom has 2GB of memory,
which helps A LOT in speeding up those queries  :)
