Hello Doc. Setting your own CA is a good idea. Also, you might
want to consider implementing LDAP in your community. LDAP
should fit perfectly in a university setup where users can reach
thousands. Part of the tree can be delegated to departments for
example to ease management. With LDAP you can provide an online
and easily accessible directory for your community. Your
certificate service can also be integrated with LDAP such that
public personal certificates can also be made accessible. Though
I'm not sure if this would be of use since you're using the
web-based IMP interface for e-mail.
