Hello all,
I just sprung for a Voodoo3 AGP card, lured by Linux DRI OpenGL goodness
(and not just for gaming.. my old TNT2 Vanta was more than adequate for
that). However, my shiny new card doesn't work well when my FSB is 95 or
100MHz! it only works with a 66MHz FSB. At 95/100MHz there are graphics
glitches, pixel dust, etc on screen EVEN IN TEXT MODE (e.g. BIOS boot
screen). It also won't boot Windoze (Linux works though, but with fine
pixel dust onscreen).
I've already has the dealer swap the card for another one, the problem is
still there. The dealer thought my motherboard was at fault.. but my
motherboard is an almost-new MSI BX Master (5/5 stars at Anandtech). I
have this theory that at FSBs < 100MHz the AGP clock == the FSB which
would be severely stressing the card (stock AGP is 66MHz). But my old
Vanta worked fine.. also at 100MHz and 105MHz the Voodoo3 still exhibits
these problems.
Anybody else have a Voodoo3 and encountered these problems, I'd appreciate
it if you dropped me a note.
