Hello Everyone!
I know this is a little off topic, but can anyone please recommend me a
good and *free* search solution for a university web server with around
3000+ files. Desired functionality includes being able to search individual
subdirectory (meaning being able to seach the entire site, or just limited
to engineering/ or science/ subdirectory only), customizable HTML output,
and ofcourse, basic search functionalities.
We are running Apache 1.3.12 using Red Hat Linux, but might be
migrating to FreeBSD or OpenBSD soon, since most are written in Perl, that
might not be a problem.
I'm at lost here because most search scripts that I've come accross are
either too inefficient (grep like script with no indexing), too simple, or
too expensive.
