Well, dust inside the computer tends to shorten its useful life too...
Get enough dust inside a system casing and it will tend to malfunction,
as some kinds of dust are conductive and they can easily carry static
electricity. The effect of dust and smoke on diskettes is even worse.
Bad sectors and stuff like that will be more common. CD-ROM's and other
optical storage devices will malfunction even sooner. Get any smoke or
dust inside them and most CD's will soon become unreadable. Dust in
keyboards may result in stuck keys...
