A bit of historical trivia. See the VIA press release below. -- Taipei, Taiwan, May 26, 2000 -VIA Technologies, Inc. today announced that it will rename its forthcoming Socket A chipset, formerly code-named the VIA Apollo KZ133, as the VIA Apollo KT133. "We have decided to rename our Socket A chipset the VIA Apollo KT133 in response to concerns raised by customers in Germany and other European markets" commented Richard Brown, Director of Marketing. "We would like to express our sincere apologies for any offence that we may have caused through the use of the term "KZ" and thank everyone who provided us with their feedback and comments". VIA is currently working to revise all product related materials and documentation and communicate the changes to our customers. -- and the reason for this name-change? "KZ" is/was idiomatic German for "Konzentrazionslager" (don't know if that's the correct spelling) is a concentration camp. - Philippine Linux Users Group.
