(cross-posting)

Hmmm., that probably goes down to the behaviour of postfix itself, maybe
Weitse can comment on that... I'm addressing this to postfix users list
and i'll reforward their replies..

Subject: [plug] PostFix question

Hi there everyone!

Recently I set up Postfix on an old 486SX running RedHat 6.2. Things went
pretty well (it's running now), except for a slight issue I'd like to iron
out. I hope some Postfix experts on the list can help. I have more
experience playing with QMail, but decided I'd give Postfix a shot for the
learning.

I already have no_dns_lookups = yes in my main.cf, but still when I
connect from the LAN there is a long delay before the banner message (220)
comes up. Plus it fires up the link (care of DialD). I am connecting from
a machine that is listed in mynetworks which is: 192.168.0.0/24,
127.0.0.0/8 (I'm connecting either via localhost or via the same computer
but to the name of the computer which is set in my running named as
192.168.0.1 or from a Win98 machine on the LAN with a 192.168.0.x
address).

I've already checked out the FAQ for sample setups for dial-up
workstations and intranets, but still the problem persists. What could I
be doing wrong?
