Creating a CD in linux (the process automated by xcdroast) is actually 

1. defining the files to put to the cd
2. creating an ISO image of the CD in one big file using mkisofs
3. burning that image onto a cdr/crdw using cdrecord.

You just can't do a 'cp' or 'mv'.
