Mandrake enthusiasts,

I've had a problem installing multi-CD Mandrake 7.1 on
three (3) computers with different, but working,
CD-ROM drives. These computers didn't have any problem
when installing single-CD using Mandrake 7.0.2 before.

Anyway, when prompted early on the installation if I
have additional CDs labeled "Extension
CD(x86)","Applications CD 1(x86)", and "Applications
CD 2(x86",I chose "Extensions CD(x86)"--which I have
(although it was only labeled "CDROM" based on the
master CD information from which I copied from).

After completing the process of installation using the
base CD, the installation software prompted me to
insert the Extension CD(x86). The CD from the CD-ROM
drive would not eject no matter what I do...even going
to another screen using CTRL-ALT-FKEY(whatever F key
would bring you to bash) to unmount the temporary
CDROM mount or changing the CD label correctly to
"Extension CD(x86"). I manage to succesfully eject
the CD with a paper clip but the installation screen
froze. Same problem with the three computers using
Asus 40X, 45X and 50X CD-ROM drives.

I decided finally to tell the installation process I
have only one(1) CD and just do an "rpm -Uvh --force
--nodeps *.rpm" to the extension CD...it's all RPMs a
nyway. Just make sure you have more than 1.6 GIG on
your /usr partition.

BTW, Sawmill + Gnome is great.
Enjoy, Helium users.
