Try making a separate /boot partition (10mb)
Make sure the MBR is available to write over.
You can use fdisk /mbr with dos.
If you finished installing and it still a problem,
try a rescue disk from a distro like Suse or a diskette.
Boot the installed partition and from there edit the
lilo.conf then do the lilo -v and see if it now works.
Maybe slackware installer is in error.
