[plug] NFS Home - how?

I'm looking at a new arrangement for our networks in our
building:

I want the main file server to serve /home as the /home for
all other machines.

Problem: how to synchronize passwords and ID#s.

What's the good solution and how?
NIS+, LDAP, etc...
