I do not have a recommended solution for your GnomeICU problem. I have an
alternative to GnomeICU that I'd like to recommend, though. I find that
LICQ <http://www.licq.org/> is a more mature, more stable, and more
capable (feature-wise) ICQ client for Linux. These are all relative, of
course, but if you'll take my word for it, give LICQ a shot. It's pretty
neat. :-)
