As much as possible it would be a good idea to confine ourselves to using open
source applications and products. And being a linux organization, i hope we
can rule out indefinitely any programs that require non-linux OSs, at least for
the server.

It is running something important - the PLUG website! \8) Seriously, if there
is a solution which you can give me to incorporate a chat server on the box,
then i'm open to discussions on that.
AFAIK, there is an IRC channel dedicated to local linux talk. was that
linux-ph? on what server i don't know. i'm not really into IRC.
