Where can I find comprehensive information on how NIS(+), PAM, LDAP works? The Linux HOWTO files contain instructions on how to install them, and almost already assumes that the user knows the concepts behind these services. Actually, I have to set up a server that does following: 1. distributes passwords for Unix clients to authenticate 2. Unix clients to mount unique NFS shares for each user when authenticated 3. somehow use their mailbox on the server as if it were local (is this possible?)
