In reverse order of your questions:
1. Yes, you can dual-boot Windows 9x and Linux, using either Linux's lilo
(Linux Loader) or some other OS loader. I myself use eXtended OS Loader, an open
source boot manager, to choose from among OpenBSD 2.7, OS/2 Warp 4, RH 5.2,
Calera OpenDOS, and (through floppy) BeOS 5.
2. Where did you get your CD? I was helping out a vendor friend with their
Caldera install. CD came with Maxtor drives, if I recall rightly. Wouldn't
install on *any* of their hardware. I borrowed a CD and tried it on my PC, on
which I was at that time running FreeBSD 3.0. No go either. And I specifically
asked for components that I was sure would work with Linux, no winmodems or
problem AGP video cards. Had a feeling the CD was bad. Indeed, I later bought a
Caldera CD from Macromind for around PhP162, and it installed OK. Bottom line is
that your CD could've been bad.
Mabuhay.
