if you read the PHP manual that comes with you installed PHP distribution
they are function that would help in handling XML files. in version, 3.x
of PHP they is a separate module that you would need to compile in. as of
PHP 4.x i think i was already included in the distribution.

check your /usr/doc/php-x.x.x/manual.htm
