Here's one for you Linux gurus.

I can't seem to run kppp (the KDE dialer). When I run it as an
ordinary user from my Blackbox menu, nothing happens. I tried running it
from the console, I got this wierd message:

Xlib: connection to "0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to to Server
kppp: cannot connect to X server :0.0

I know this means that kppp does not have permission to run X
(right?). This is strange since the program asks for the root
password. Shouldn't it be able to connect since it has verified that I
know the root password?

The really wierd thing is, when I open another console and run a root
shell, I can now run the kppp program either from the console (the user
console with user shell, not the root console) as long as the console with
a root shell is kept open. I can also launch kppp using the Blackbox menu
as long as that root shell is kept open. Once I exit that root shell, I
cannot run kppp anymore even though it prompts me for the root password.

Even stranger is that this just started happening yesterday. I used to be
able to call up kppp all the time. It asked for the root password, but
that was it. I don't think that I was running a root shell in the past ALL
the time.

What gives? I didn't change any settings. I just booted up one day and
found may machine acting this way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! God bless!
