its nice to hear that. i envy gabaldon because it is still on a much
better ground than our little barrio in talavera wherein i dont think 
i knew anybody having a computer. my mom who is a teacher at the local
elementary school still does her report on her trusty typewriter[1].

it depends on how you view the word 'elite' and how you interpret
'PLUG membership'.

linux elite is a rank that is only given by people who perceive that
these people are better than they are. that is a sign of inferiority
complex. all of us are newbies and the OSS scene offers a wide area of
knowledge that no single person can master to become an 'elite'.

ill leave the issue of PLUG membership to the board to answer. i do
know that PLUG advocates the creation of local user groups to further
organize people at the grass-root level , similar to what the davao
LUG is doing. i also know that the support mailing lists will always
be free to those who want to learn. :)

[1] the severe electric flunctuations already killed two old computers
that i brought home plus the i dont think computer access is high on
the resident's daily survival agenda. :(
