may i ask what's the difference bet upgrading the 2.4 kernel of rh9

thanks..
There are a lot of other prgorams and utilities that must be upgraded
along with the kernel. I also noticed that the dependency structure of
certain programs changes with the kernel. Some programs, for example, that
use the 2.4 kernel depend on other packages that aren't needed in distors
that use the 2.6 kernel, and vice versa.
I would agree with the others that grafting a 2.6 kernel onto a distro
that is structured to use a 2.4 kernel is one big headache. You will run
into othe rproblems even further down the raod. Upgrading to a distro that
is designed to use the 2.6 kernel (such as Fedora or CentOS) is a better
idea.
God bless!
