If you want more power you can use the GNU pic system (man pic). I use it to create a lot of diagrams (for my tex documents). Chances are, somebody already made ready to use pic macros for you to use. It is usually readily available on most Linux systems.
The power in this interpreted language is that you can create loops if you want to repeat some stuff.
