those aren't "special"
and that's the reason why companies like demon in the UK offer free
subdomains under "xxx.demon.co.uk" to get around the cost.

while it is true that .ph domains are relatively small compared to the
Verisign domains, that's not an excuse. as i've pointed out, the
actual (technical) cost of running the domain is cheap. $200/month
will get you two dedicated servers.

and (ostensibly) the cost of labor here in the Philippines is cheap.
so what gives? someone wants to buy a castle in Austria too?

I know all about that reselling. My employer is a reseller as well.
Wow, $5 off. That's less than 20%. If Cisco can give 40%-plus reseller
commission, and they're selling REAL HARDWARE, as opposed to this case
where .PH is selling basically vapor, it's immediately obvious that
the so-called reseller commission is nothing more than a bone thrown
to us, the dogs.

And I have seen some of the anti-competitive practices being done.
Such as offering free vanity domains to people who subscribed with EMC
(and I don't mean the storage company!!) Of course this was many years
ago, I don't know if this (mal)practice still continues.
