Oh, my bad. I thought it was a typo on his part. :D At any rate, PLDT
installed a (faulty) modem/router at my place, and I sometimes had
problems with dhclient. Maybe I should be using dhcpcd too. :D

Would you know what would cause a network appliance's Ethernet interface
to break? Would disconnecting the other end of an RJ45-ended CAT 5 UTP
and reconnecting it on a different machine do it? Or could it just be a
case of cheap hardware and freak occurrences?
