Plone does everything. If you want to integrate it with your
website...go for it. If you want to make it its own system, you can do
that to. Literally, there is nothing you can't do with Plone. It can
be as simple and complex as you want to make it.

It's sort of like a CMS that you have to integrate with your site?
I'm looking for a spider that can index the text and files (regardless
of format) and make is available to a search engine. Will this do?
