I did this before in the old Samba 2.x  version running on RH quite some time ago. It wasn't that much difficult back then, but it needed to maintain at least 2 user/machine database accounts. The client machine also needs to have write access to a certain shared folder in the system but I don't remember about it anymore.

It would probably be much easier in the new Samba 3.x versions which have AD support.
