The DLTs are slow as well, but they have proven to be more reliable than DAT. I've used Tandberg DLT extensively on Oracle/RHEL production enviroments 24x7 and "they just work" (TM).

Haven't tried the AIT drives but seen them during LWC at the SuSE booth. I guess this is one of Sony's exclusive storage implementations?
