Let me just chime in with my deepest admiration for everything the
PLUG people have been doing. I remember how even at my
despedida/birthday party, Marvin Pascual was still doing PLUG work. I
remember how Paolo Falcone had to sign this tall stack of certificates
so that everyone who requested proof of attendance would have a
properly signed one. And of course, I think Jijo's ubercool. =)

Elections are coming up soon, and many people here might be wondering
why there seems to be an 'inner circle', a group of techies who know
each other and who end up doing most of the work in terms of PLUG.
Here's the little secret: people didn't really know each other before.
They got to know each other because of Linux, because they wanted to
do something to help.

In PLUG, as in the open source world, your work is your introduction.
You get out there and start helping people and you _will_ be known.
You have to be proactive. Don't wait for someone to assign you
something to do. Look for ways you can help people learn how to use
and make the most of Linux.

And you know what? Give the current board a break if they want one.
Don't just vote them back because it's the easy thing to do. Don't
just vote them back so that you can avoid asking yourself how you can
take this opportunity to serve, to give back to the community.

Keep the people who are passionate about how they can serve through
PLUG, who are running not because no one else is running but because
they want to. And if you feel you have the time and energy to help, to
serve--volunteer. You'll learn a _lot_ about open source along the
way, and you'll get to meet some pretty amazing people.

PLUG is doing Good Stuff. With your help, it can be even better.
