I was able to solve the problem. What I did was I made an initrd that loads sd_mod, libata, and sata_nv. The default initrd that comes with [K]Ubuntu does not load SATA modules.
Anyway, I was going to try the Legacy Mode (what Ed and Paolo suggested) but it seems that my motherboard doesn't support it (or maybe I just couldn't find it), so I had no other choice but to use a custom initrd. -- Gideon N.
