Wow… I have to admit. Nahirapan ako maintindihan
yung sinulat mo Rick…
But from what I gathered from what you
wrote, it’s all true. Lessons can only be learned from doing. And from what
happened at PUP, a lot was taught, but a lot was gained as well. At least for
any new events that will be planned or are in the planning stages, new insight
has been gleaned from what happened already.
As for doing the event at a school (as
opposed to a fancy hotel function room or at a convention hall), this way, the
most difficult aspect of open source advocacy is addressed, and that’s grassroots
penetration. What better venue to expound on FOSS than to those who are still
on the way to where we are? To where we decided to be? It’s during this timeframe
(for the students) that they start getting locked into specific mindsets. It’s
the best time (and the best place) to show them that there are other options, that
they can be free.

PLUG & LUGs
free software advocacy group.
usaping pulitika.

True true =) And we get to know more people in another level too.
I got home tired that day but, man, that sure was more fun than I
thought it would be, all things considered <laughs>
