Not very old, but if you can find a(n older) US Robotics Sportster (or
in that line, just make sure it's not USB), I've heard they serve
pretty well.
Personally, I'm using a no-name external serial modem (having finally
ditched my blasted Motorola SM56 internal winmodem).
