I also have a Dell Inspiron Series (600m) notebook.
I didn't have any problem mounting the DVD-/+ R/RW
drive, it auto mounts the DVD drive. Can you try checking
your /media (default mounting directory) directory for subdirectories
of mounted medias or your /etc/fstab file, your drive may have
already been mounted. In case you didn't have any
optical media entry on your /etc/fstab file (/dev/hdc on my notebook),
you can try mounting it manullay using the "mount" command.
mount -t iso9660 /dev/hd* /mount<your mount directory here>
( /dev/hdc on my notebook )
By the way, I'm using Ubuntu Hoary (5.04) on my notebook.
Hope it helps.

Subject: [plug] Ubuntu on Dell Inspiron 6000
Hi,
I'm having trouble mounting my DVDROM which is built-in with the
Inspiron. Buti pa yung WIFI card gumana agad hehe.
Anyway, does anyone know how I can make my DVDROM work? I'm using Ubuntu
5.1.
Thanks!
Melvin
